Carlos Artiles, MD
Dr. Artiles received his medical degree from the University
of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed his internship and
residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Mount Zion Hospital and Medical
Center
and the University of California in San Francisco. He completed a two year fellowship in Neuroradiology at Yale University School of Medicine.
He joined Association of Alexandria Radiologists in 1988 and is an active staff member at Inova Alexandria Hospital,
Inova HealthPlex, and Inova Mount Vernon Hospital.
Dr. Artiles is Chairman of the Department Radiology at Inova Alexandria Hospital where he has also served as Director of MRI and Neuroradiology since 1994. He is a
member of the Inova Alexandria Hospital Cancer Committee
and Quality Assurance Committee.
Dr. Artiles is a Certified Diplomat of the
American Board of Radiology and the National Board of Medical Examiners.
He received his Certificate of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology
from the American Board of Radiology in 1995
and was reaccredited in 2005. He has served as a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology since 1988.

Mitali Bapna, MD
Dr. Bapna received her medical degree from Harvard Medical
School. She completed an internship in Internal Medicine at the University
of Chicago Hospital. Her residency in Diagnostic Radiology was completed
at Brigham and Women’s Hospital where she also completed a fellowship
in Musculoskeletal Radiology. She joined Association of Alexandria
Radiologists in 2005 and is an active staff member at Inova Alexandria
Hospital, Inova HealthPlex and Inova Mount Vernon Hospital.
Dr. Bapna
served as the Founder and Chair of the Harvard International Health
Organization. She is a Certified Diplomate of the American Board of
Radiology.

Richard R. Barbu, MD 
Dr. Barbu received his medical degree from Albany Medical
College. He completed his internship in Medicine at Staten Island University
Hospital. His residency in Diagnostic Radiology was completed at Albert
Einstein College of Medicine, Long Island Jewish Medical Center where
he served as Chief Resident for the Department of Radiology. He completed
a fellowship in Neuroradiology at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.
He joined Association of Alexandria Radiologists in 2001 and is
an active staff member at Inova Alexandria Hospital, Inova HealthPlex,
and Inova Mount Vernon Hospital.
Dr. Barbu is President of AAR and has served as Medical Director
of the Department of Radiology at the Inova HealthPlex since 2001.
He is a Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and
the National Board of Medical Examiners. He received his Certificate
of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology from the American Board of
Radiology in 1996.

Deborah N. Blair, MD
Dr. Blair received her medical degree from
Yale University School of Medicine. She completed her internship in
Internal Medicine and residency in Diagnostic Imaging at Yale-New Haven
Hospital where she also served as Chief Resident for the Department
of Radiology. She joined Association of Alexandria Radiologists
in 1987 and is an active staff member at Inova Alexandria Hospital,

Dr. Blair serves
as Chairperson of the Department of Radiology at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital Hospital.

John B. DeGrazia, MD
Dr. DeGrazia received his medical degree from New York University
Medical Center. He completed a Medical internship at Lenox Hill Hospital.

Medical Center where he also completed a fellowship in Abdominal Imaging

William J. Dunwoody III, MD
Dr. Dunwoody received his medical degree
from The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health
Sciences where he also completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology.
He completed a Rotational internship at Santa Barbara Hospital. His
fellowship in Ultrasound and Magnetic Resonance Imaging was completed
at Harvard Medical School, New England Deaconess Hospital where he
also served as a Clinical Fellow in Radiology. Dr. Dunwoody joined
Association of Alexandria Radiologists in 2002. He is an active staff member at Inova Alexandria Hospital, Inova
HealthPlex, and Inova Mount Vernon Hospital.
Dr. Dunwoody has served as Chairperson of the Department of Radiology at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital. He is a Certified
Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and the National Board
of Medical Examiners and is certified by the Mammography Quality Standards
Act. He received his Certificate of Added Qualification in Pediatric
Radiology from the American Board of Radiology in 1995.

Djamil Fertikh, MD
Dr. Fertikh received his medical degree from
INESSM University of Algiers in Algeria. He completed his internship
in Internal Medicine and his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Mercy
Catholic Medical Center where he also served as Chief Resident of the
Department of Radiology. His fellowship in Neuroradiology was completed
at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He completed an
externship in neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology at Georgetown
University Medical Center. He joined Association of Alexandria Radiologists in 2005 and is an active staff member at Inova Alexandria Hospital,
Inova HealthPlex, and Inova Mount Vernon Hospital.
Dr. Fertikh was awarded
Resident of the Year while at Mercy Catholic Medical Center and received
the Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award in 2000 and 2001. He is
a Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology. He is a member
of the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North
America and the American Medical Association. He received his Certificate
of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology from the American College
of Radiology in 2005.

Michael H. Friedman, MD
Dr. Friedman received his medical degree
from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. He
completed his Mixed Medical internship at The George Washington University
Medical Division of the District of Columbia Hospital. He attended
Cornell University Medical Center where he completed his residency
and a fellowship in Diagnostic Radiology. He joined Association of
Alexandria Radiologists in 1972 and is an active staff member at
Inova Alexandria Hospital, Inova HealthPlex, and Inova Mount Vernon
Hospital.
Dr. Friedman is Chairman of the Board of AAR having served as President for more than 20 years. He maintains an appointment
as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Radiology at Georgetown University
Medical Center. He is a Certified Diplomate of the American Board of
Radiology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He is certified in Nuclear Medicine by the
American Board of Nuclear Medicine.

Monjari C. Gillian, MD
Dr. Gillian received her medical degree from

her residency in Diagnostic Radiology at The Western Pennsylvania Hospital where she served as Chief Resident.

William V. Hindle, Jr., MD
Dr. Hindle received his medical degree
from Cornell University Medical College. He completed an internship in Surgery at University Hospitals of Cleveland, followed by service as a Submarine Medical Officer in the U.S. Navy. He completed a
residency and fellowship in Diagnostic Radiology at the New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center. He
joined Association of Alexandria Radiologists in 1975 and is an
active staff member at Inova Alexandria Hospital, Inova Mount Vernon Hospital and the Inova HealthPlex.
Dr. Hindle has served as Chairperson of
the Department of Radiology at Inova Alexandria and Inova Mount Vernon hospitals. He has also served as President of the Alexandria Medical Society and the District of Columbia Metropolitan Radiological Society. He was awarded a Fellowship in the American College of Radiology in 1995. He is a Certified Diplomate
