Varicose veins are swollen veins which protrude in a rope-like manner under the skin. Veins return blood back to your heart and have one-way valves that prevent the blood from flowing backwards due to gravity. If the valves do not close properly, the blood will pool in that area of the vein. This abnormal collection of blood will push the vein walls outward, causing the vein to enlarge and bulge, commonly called a varicose vein.

More than just a cosmetic concern, varicose veins may cause your legs to ache or swell. Your legs may feel tired, heavy, or they may develop a burning sensation as the day goes on. In more severe cases, varicose veins may cause the skin to change, resulting in ulceration or bleeding, and/or pigmentation changes.

At the Advanced Vein and Interventional Center, we offer the following highly effective treatment options. Each of these options take about an hour, offer little or no pain, and offer a quick return to normal day activities – and not to mention a new sense of self confidence – you may find that you love to wear shorts again!

Venefit™ Radio Frequency Ablation

Dr. Sterling is a recognized leader in vein ablation – Venefit Targeted Endovenous Therapy. This minimally invasive, high-tech procedure has revolutionized the treatment of varicose veins. This technique has shown a 98% success rate and offers major advantages compared with traditional surgery and alternative treatments.

In this procedure, a thin catheter is inserted in the vein through a small nick in the skin. The catheter emits radiofrequency energy waves to provide an even and uniform heat to specific areas of the diseased vein, causing the vein to collapse and close. Once this occurs, the blood in that area is naturally rerouted to other healthy veins, and the closed vein is reabsorbed

VenaCure EVLT® Laser Ablation

This procedure again uses a thin catheter inserted through the skin into the diseased vein. The catheter delivers laser energy to heat the blood, causing the vein to close. Once the closing occurs, the blood in that area is naturally rerouted to other healthy veins and the body reabsorbs the closed vein.

Microphlebectomy

In cases where complete cosmetic improvement cannot be achieved solely through vein ablation, microphlebectomy may be recommended as an adjunct procedure. A series of very small incisions is made along the vein and a small hook is inserted to remove small sections of the vein from under the skin.

Sclerotherapy

This procedure involves the use of an extremely fine needle to inject a tiny amount of sclerosant directly into the spider veins, causing them to shrink, close off and be reabsorbed into your body. Effective treatment may require more than one sclerotherapy session. Sclerotherapy is considered a cosmetic procedure, and is not covered by insurance.

VeinGogh™

This unique, new technology is an effective alternative to lasers and other light based solutions for the treatment of fine telangiectasias, spider veins, and small angiomas which can occur on your face, ankles, knees and legs. VeinGogh uses a technology known as thermo-coagulation, finely-focused microwaves applied directly to the affected area, which causes the vein walls to collapse.

  • BOTOX®

BOTOX®, a registered trademark of Allergan, Inc. has been successfully used in over 11 million men and women in the United States since 2002. With real, noticeable results, no surgery and no recovery time, there are many reasons to choose BOTOX. Wrinkles that are caused by the muscles of facial expression, such as the frown lines between the brow, crow’s feet, horizontal forehead lines, and laugh lines smooth over and are greatly minimized within a few days following injection. BOTOX is one of the most popular treatments for deep wrinkles because the results are very pleasing, with minimal discomfort – the treatment needs no anesthetic, takes about 15 minutes, and offers few, if any side effects. Results generally last from four to six months. Your facial muscles relax and retrain themselves in response to the medication, so less BOTOX is needed for subsequent treatments.

  • Juvederm®

Unfortunately the combination of time, exposure to the sun, stress and other potential harmful elements work against us as skin composition begins to break down. Our skin loses structure and volume.  Unwelcome and unwanted lines, folds, and wrinkles begin to appear and seem to multiply making us look older than we feel.

Juvéderm® dermal filler is composed of a biodegradable gel called hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body. In addition to adding fullness to the skin, a hyaluronic acid filler attracts water molecules to the site of the injection, further enhancing its effectiveness.  It also stimulates collagen, producing smooth and natural looking results while helping to slow the aging process.  Juvéderm instantly can help restore your skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles, smile lines, nasolabial folds (the lines that form alongside the nose and mouth), and add volume to thinning lips.  Juvéderm is the only filler FDA approved to last up to one year with one treatment.   Juvéderm XC is formulated with lidocaine for a more comfortable treatment experience.  With any cosmetic treatment, safety is the first concern.  Because Juvéderm injectable gel is a non-surgical, in-office treatment, most patients

Nothing makes a woman feel like a star more than long, lush lashes.  False eyelashes are tedious, and time-consuming, and how many of us have bought a multitude of mascaras - they can only do so much.

Latisse®, which uses the active ingredient bimatoprost, is the first and only FDA-approved prescription treatment for inadequate lashes. Over the years, women have been amazed to find that a product which sounds too good to be true but really works—growing longer, fuller and darker lashes in as little as 21 days.

If Latisse® is right for you, you’ll find that Latisse® lengthens, thickens and grows your own lashes. It’s not an illusion, it’s you. . . only better.
